First use
Just so you know, SparkleFlow-GO comes preloaded with 15 data entries upon first use. It will open the first package in this data set. Removing packages from the data set is easy. Just delete (or move) the folders from the data folder when you don’t need them anymore (leave _Archive since it is required by SparkleFlow).
Switch to multi-user mode
The first time you start SparkleFlow-GO it immediately opens the Select Package window (because there is no last selection available in your cache). It will the open the main window of SparkleFlow-GO. If you want to use SparkleFlow-GO as a multi-user package manager you should copy it to a shared folder (or dropbox/ Onedrive / etc..). Create a shortcut to SparkleFlow.exe for every user (up to 10 users can be working concurrently in SparkleFlow-GO). You can configure the user names with the cog icon on the top right in the main window.
Creating a new package entry
When you click on the plus sign in the middle of the top bar you can create a new package entry. This process is facilitated through a window where you have the option to either select an installer from the Winget repository or create one from scratch for a package you have acquired somewhere else. For every new package entry, SparkleFlow-GO automatically generates a structured folder system and relocates all necessary files into their appropriate subfolders. This organization can be verified through the [Open Folders…] button located on the left side of the main screen.
Import packages from Winget
You can download packages from the Winget repository by choosing and selecting values from all dropdown menus. Upon completion, SparkleFlow-GO automatically generates a structured folder system and relocates all necessary files into their appropriate subfolders. This organization can be verified through the [Open Folders…] button located on the left side of the main screen.
The process
The interface of SparkleFlow-GO is designed to be functional and intuitive. The center of the interface has all the packaging actions and will change depending on the status of the package. You start a phase with the top button [Start “status name”]. Once you have checked all necessary actions for a package you can go forward in the process by pressing [Accept] at the bottom or press [Reject] if you want to send the package back in the process.
Main functions
Working with SparkleFlow-Go is pretty straightforward. In the following GIF, most of its general functions are explained.
Known issues
As highlighted earlier, SparkleFlow-GO extensively leverages linking to files within the folder structures it creates. However, due to Windows path length limitations, it’s essential to avoid excessively long paths. While SparkleFlow-GO itself functions correctly, the management of files and documents could lead to errors. A temporary solution is available through the use of the Subst command, and a more integrated workaround is in development for future updates. For the present, attention should be paid to managing folder depth carefully.
When you download large files from the Winget repository it may take a while depending on your internet connection speed. SparkleFlow will wait until it’s finished and when it takes too long you’ll get an option to cancel.
